Page design copy for use as template does not allow me to change reference table

[SOLVED: Export template as JSON and then create a template from import)

Hi all,

I use enterprise cloud

I would like to copy the layout of a page design template as I would like to re-use the static text and images in this template with the data in another table. However, although I can copy the template, it does not allow me to reference a different table. In order to do so, I have to create a new template.

Am I missing some setting that would allow me to do this?

Actually not quite resolved. The template can be uploaded but it is unusuable because dynamic text can be inserted but disappears upon saving. The only solution is to start from scratch.
