Prevent from deleting a link records

My Setup:

  • SeaTable Self-hosted
  • {“version”:“5.0.8”,“edition”:“enterprise edition”}

Issue:

Can a link to a record be protected? by that i mean that once created, is there something to prevent you from clicking on the Del key when selecting the cell, therefore removing the link.

I will share an app to colleagues to fill in the linked columns, but i want to disable the delete option once the people i share it with have created the record in the other table. Otherwise it will get messy to find again the record as all the values are pretty similar.

You have two options:

  • Lock the row
  • Make the link column a read-only column

Both options prevent links from being deleted. New links cannot be added either though.

I think the read-only is a good solution, i though they would not be able to create the link if i did that.

When you say

you mean once they have created the link right ? but then they cannot edit any other column of the row i suppose.

Read-only is read-only. In a read-only column, edits are not allowed. This means for a link column: Links cannot be added, modified or deleted. If you want to protect links from deletion, this is the right option.

Correct. You can use an automation to lock a row once a link has been added.

Then the fact that I can add a record is a bug? It benefits me in this case so it’s good. (see in yellow)

Another question ? is it normal that a linked record cannot be edited in the app just like in the base ? all fields are greyed out, even if the linked column is not read-only
